Controversial Nigerian activist and social commentator, VeryDarkMan (VDM), has fired back at street-hop singer Portable for criticizing him over his remarks about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
VDM had earlier called out the president over worsening insecurity and hunger in Nigeria, a move that Portable opposed. The singer accused VDM of being ungrateful and claimed that President Tinubu is “working,” citing improvements in the country.
However, in a scathing response on Instagram, VDM resurfaced an old video allegedly showing Portable being beaten for attempting to steal a Keke Napep in 2020.
“Portable, look at your video from 2020 when you went to steal a keke. See how badly you were beaten,” VDM said.
“You’re insulting me — someone who already owned a car and keke since 2020. You claimed I only bought them under Tinubu’s regime. I don’t blame you.”
VDM further alleged that political actors paid Portable to defend the president.
“You, who once tried to steal a keke, can now be paid by politicians to defend nonsense,” he continued. “I didn’t insult President Tinubu. I spoke out of pain, highlighting what Nigerians are going through.”
VDM also took a swipe at Portable’s comments, mocking his supposed progress under Tinubu’s administration.
“Before, you used to drink sachet water, now you’re drinking bottled water because of Tinubu — that shows he’s working?” he said sarcastically.
He concluded with a stern warning:
“If we ever meet one-on-one without security, I’ll use your face to clean the ground.”
