Nollywood actress and activist Iyabo Ojo has fired back at controversial social media commentator Verydarkman over claims that she backed out of an alleged agreement to apologise to singers Naira Marley and Sam Larry regarding the death of late musician Mohbad.
The drama unfolded after Verydarkman publicly revealed details from a roundtable discussion at the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF NCCC), where Iyabo, Tonto Dikeh, Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and their legal teams reportedly met.
According to him, Iyabo had promised to tender a public apology for previously accusing Marley and Larry of being connected to Mohbad’s tragic death—but allegedly failed to follow through.
“You Can’t Bring Me Down” – Iyabo Ojo Fires Back
In a fiery live TikTok session, Iyabo Ojo dismissed the allegations as nothing more than manipulative storytelling by Verydarkman, branding him “corny” and “deceitful.”
“So you had to come out and do your normal manipulating tactic. I’m a very wise woman. I’m not like you that’s very deceitful and corny. You’ve tried in all your might to bring me down, but you cannot,” she declared.
The actress explained that her actions were based on disturbing visuals and reports that surfaced in the wake of Mohbad’s death in 2023, which convinced her of alleged bullying and foul play.
“I used to promote Naira Marley’s songs until Mohbad died. I saw a video of Naira Marley dancing after Mohbad’s death. I was angry,” she stated.
Why She Believed the Allegations
Iyabo revealed that what truly swayed her opinion was footage allegedly showing Sam Larry physically confronting Mohbad and Zlatan Ibile—a video that fueled public outrage and led to widespread belief that Mohbad was bullied before his passing.
“I saw Sam Larry’s video where he accosted Zlatan Ibile and Mohbad; that was when I believed the bullying allegation. As a concerned citizen and a mother, I used my platforms,” she said.
The Bigger Picture
While legal proceedings and investigations continue to unfold, Iyabo Ojo maintains that her voice was used in good conscience and for the right cause.
Her response has since sparked a fresh wave of reactions online, with fans and critics alike revisiting the emotional saga surrounding Mohbad’s untimely death and the ongoing feud between celebrities, influencers, and activists over the issue.
