Damilola Marshal, daughter of legendary Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has broken her silence on the ongoing airport controversy involving her father.
Reacting to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)‘s claim that the veteran singer attempted to board a ValueJet flight with alcohol, Damilola described the allegation as false and misleading.
“It Was Just Water” — Damilola Speaks Out
Taking to her Instagram Story on Thursday, Damilola shared a screenshot of her father’s official press release denying any misconduct.
“I don’t know why a reputable Agency will lie that Water is Alcohol. I don’t know when K1 became a Magician that turns water into Alcohol,” she wrote.
To support her father’s defense, she posted a throwback video showing him carrying the same type of flask—insisting he always uses it to carry water, not alcohol.
“With the same flask, all of a sudden everyone is pretending as if they don’t know he carries his water in his flask everywhere,” she added.
K1’s Team Calls FAAN’s Report “Misleading”
Earlier, K1’s media team issued an official statement debunking FAAN’s version of the incident. They maintained that the singer was not disruptive, and that the flask contained only drinking water handed to him at the airport lounge.
They also claimed that senior officials of FAAN and ValueJet later apologised to the singer and even offered him a private jet, which he reportedly declined.
What FAAN and Keyamo Are Saying
In contrast, FAAN insists that K1 tried to board ValueJet flight VK201 with a flask containing alcohol, and refused to comply with aviation security protocols. The agency alleged he poured the liquid on a security official and blocked the aircraft from taxiing, prompting emergency intervention.
As a result, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) imposed a six-month flying ban on the musician, while Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, backed the decision in a strongly-worded public statement.
Keyamo described the incident as:
“A temporary loss of sanity… equivalent to a hostage situation.”
He further warned that any airline that transports K1 during the ban risks having its operating license suspended or revoked.
