Damilola Ayinde Marshal, daughter of Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, has announced her intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Damilola, who currently serves as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made the announcement in an Instagram post on Tuesday, declaring her ambition to represent Surulere Constituency 2.
“I am excited to share that I, Barr. Damilola Ayinde Marshal, am stepping forward to serve the good people of Surulere Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly,” she wrote.
The lawyer, who has over a decade of legal experience, said her professional background has equipped her with a strong understanding of governance, justice, and community needs.
“I am a woman of excellence and results. I am ready to serve and lead. With my background, I am fully prepared and ready to fight for what truly matters. I promise to be the voice of the youths in the House,” she stated.
“As a young woman, I believe this is exactly what my people need right now, and that is why I decided to step forward.”
She also called on voters to prioritise competence and progress, signing off her message with a popular political slogan: “Youth Lokan!!! Igbega Eko, Ajumose wa ni.”
Damilola is seeking to replace Mosunmola Sangodara, who currently represents the constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
A graduate of North America University, Houdegbe in Cotonou, Benin Republic, she was called to the Nigerian Bar on December 15, 2015. She later earned a Master of Laws degree from the University of Lagos in 2022.
Governor Sanwo-Olu appointed her as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism on May 3, 2024, a role that brought her into the public spotlight.
Her appointment also gained attention during the coronation and birthday reception of Oba Sikirullah Apena, where her father publicly expressed gratitude to the governor in a viral moment.
