Kid Cudi has opened up about his once-bitter feud with Drake and how they eventually made peace.
Speaking on CBS Mornings, the rapper discussed his new memoir Cudi, his upcoming album, and his experiences in the industry. Reflecting on his clash with Drake, he recalled how Drizzy dissed him on “Two Birds, One Stone” in 2016 while he was in rehab for depression and suicidal thoughts.
“Oh, man, I was like, ‘Okay, you want to kick me when I’m down. Great,’” Kid Cudi said.
“But he wanted to play the game with me. He wanted me to put him in a song or whatever, and I’m not that type of artist. I’m going to come to your doorstep and let you know that I’m gonna see you.”
The rapper revealed that Kanye West helped set up a meeting between him and Drake in 2018, after he had recovered. “I was in a much better place, so I was able to kind of talk to him. Me and Drake used to be friends… it was nice to reconnect.”
In his memoir, Kid Cudi also shared that Drake admitted the diss “didn’t feel right,” leading to an apology and reconciliation. The truce even paved the way for their 2021 collaboration “IMY2” on Drake’s Certified Lover Boy album.
Although Cudi noted that they haven’t spoken since, he said he feels at peace with where things stand.
