A lawyer for Grammy-winning artist Lil Nas X has confirmed that the singer is currently “in treatment” following his arrest last month for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
The artist, whose real name is Montero Hill, was charged with battery of a police officer and resisting arrest after an incident in Los Angeles on 21 August, where he was reportedly found wandering naked.
Lil Nas X legal team appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom on Monday and later spoke to Rolling Stone, shedding light on his current situation.
“Obviously, you heard the treatment word,” his lawyer said.
“We’re doing what is best for Montero from a personal standpoint and a professional standpoint, but most importantly for his well-being. He is surrounded by an amazing family, an amazing team of people that care about him and love him. We’re just addressing those issues. It’s really as simple as that. He’s had a great life, he’ll continue to have a great life. This is a bump that he’s gonna get over.”
Hill has pleaded not guilty to four felony charges. His next hearing is scheduled for 18 November.
Addressing the incident on social media, Lil Nas X wrote:
“S**t. That was f**king terrifying. That was terrifying! That was a terrifying last four days, but your girl is going to be alright.”
