Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Invites Akpabio to Kogi for Project Commissioning, Signalling Reconciliation

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Invites Akpabio

Tensions between Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) and Senate President Godswill Akpabio appear to have eased after the Kogi lawmaker formally invited Akpabio and her colleagues to attend a project commissioning ceremony in her senatorial district.

The invitation, personally signed by Akpoti-Uduaghan, was read aloud by Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary session at the National Assembly. The event, scheduled for Sunday in Ihima, Kogi State, will mark her second year in the Senate.

“In marking my second-year anniversary as serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite fellow Distinguished Senators to join me for projects commissioning in Kogi State,”
the letter read in part.

According to the invitation, the ceremony will be held at her residence on Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene, with senators arriving by air advised to land at Obajana Airstrip before proceeding to the venue by road.

After reading the letter, Akpabio publicly congratulated her, saying:

“Congratulations in advance.”

The development is widely viewed as a major step toward reconciliation between the two senators following months of political tension. Their rift dates back to February when a dispute over seat reallocation in the Senate led to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s six-month suspension on March 6.

Since her reinstatement on September 24, the Kogi senator has returned to full participation in plenary sessions and legislative activities. Her latest gesture — extending an official invitation to Akpabio and other lawmakers — signals a renewed effort to restore cordial relations within the Senate chamber.
