Barcelona have confirmed that Pedri González has suffered a muscle injury, ruling him out of action for the next few weeks.
According to ARA, the Canarian midfielder—who has been a regular starter under Hansi Flick—picked up the injury during Sunday’s El Clásico at the Bernabéu, where he finished the game exhausted and was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
Pedri has already begun recovery work in the gym and will miss Elche’s visit to Montjuïc this weekend.
He is also expected to sit out Barcelona’s upcoming fixtures against Club Brugge in the Champions League and Celta Vigo in La Liga before the international break.
The 21-year-old joins an already extensive injury list that includes Raphinha, Pablo Gavi, Marc-André ter Stegen, and Andreas Christensen.
However, Flick hopes to recover Robert Lewandowski, Dani Olmo, and Joan Garcia ahead of the next league match.
