Former Big Brother Naija star Uriel Oputa has called out those who constantly criticize women for their personal choices regarding motherhood and family life.
Taking to social media, the reality TV star expressed her frustration over how women’s reproductive health and decisions have become public debate topics online.
According to Uriel, it’s disheartening that people freely discuss women’s private matters without considering their emotions, struggles, and personal battles.
“So what if a woman brings a child into the world?” she asked. “Instead of celebrating life, people start comparing, saying things like ‘when I was breastfeeding, I didn’t do this’ or ‘why didn’t she do that?’ Everyone’s story is different. Even siblings from the same parents aren’t the same.”
Uriel also questioned why Nigerians feel entitled to analyze and judge women’s lives, citing examples of public figures like Toke Makinwa, Tiwa Savage, and Hilda Baci, who often face intense scrutiny for their lifestyle choices.
“Are you them?” she asked pointedly. “Everyone’s journey is unique. Nigerians can really be shameless sometimes.”
In her caption, the BBNaija star expressed disappointment at how women are often criticized instead of celebrated for creating life. She urged people to examine their hearts and mindsets rather than tearing others down.
“I hate seeing other women being pulled down,” she wrote. “It’s disgusting. Ask yourself why you’re not progressing — it’s your heart. I’ll continue to defend Toke or whoever I wish.”
Uriel’s bold statement has since sparked conversations online, with many agreeing that society should show more compassion and respect for women’s diverse life journeys.
