The man who caused chaos at last week’s Singapore premiere of Wicked: For Good by grabbing Ariana Grande has now been jailed.
Johnson Wen, a 26-year-old Australian, was sentenced to nine days in prison after pleading guilty to being a public nuisance, according to BBC News.
The incident, which went viral last Thursday, unfolded on the red carpet when Wen leaped over a barricade and rushed toward Ariana Grande. The 32-year-old singer appeared visibly startled as Wen grabbed her, prompting co-star Cynthia Erivo to step in and shield her.
Court documents revealed that Wen attempted to breach the red carpet twice that evening — even returning for a second attempt after security had removed him from the venue.
During the hearing, Wen promised the judge he would “not do it again.”
His online activity, however, paints a more troubling pattern.
Wen, known on social media as “Pyjama Man,” has a history of crashing high-profile events. His Instagram features similar stunts at concerts by Katy Perry, The Weeknd, and The Chainsmokers.
Just a day after the premiere, he posted online that he was “free after being arrested” and even shared footage of the incident.
Ariana Grande has not publicly commented on what transpired, but Cynthia Erivo alluded to the ordeal during a Los Angeles screening over the weekend, saying:
“We have come through some sht. I mean, fck, even this last week, let’s be honest.”
