Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has recounted an uncomfortable experience with a Master of Ceremonies at a recent event, describing remarks she found offensive and deliberately targeted at her.
In an Instagram post shared on Monday, the former beauty queen and diplomat said the MC repeatedly made jokes about tall people, portraying them as arrogant and detached. She noted that while delivering the comments, the MC kept looking in her direction, which she interpreted as intentional.
Expressing her frustration, Odumegwu-Ojukwu opened the post by lamenting what she described as a growing lack of common sense, especially during the festive season.
She wrote that the MC launched into “the usual tall people rants,” claiming tall people are arrogant and have their “heads in the clouds,” adding sarcastically that she wondered where such heads were expected to be instead.
The minister also questioned the MC’s self-description, suggesting that holding a microphone before an audience did not automatically qualify someone as a comedian, DJ, or musician.
In a sarcastic tone, she described herself as musically talented and hinted that she could respond in kind, joking that she could introduce him to her music collection.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu further noted that the MC failed to acknowledge positive qualities associated with tall people, particularly generosity.
She quipped that it would be her “singular pleasure” to step on stage and present him with an advance Christmas gift in the form of a CD from her “greatest hits.”
She ended her post with a pointed remark in Igbo, implying that taking the stage would not go without consequences.
The post has since drawn online reactions, with many users debating professionalism, boundaries of humour, and respect at public events.
