Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has revealed that the pain of losing both his parents has at times made him consider quitting football.
The Chippa United shot-stopper made the emotional disclosure while speaking with ACL Sports, recounting how his mother passed away just two months after the death of his father.
“My mom died around two o’clock today,” Nwabali said, explaining how he tries to internalise his pain and remain strong despite the tragedy.
He admitted that coping with the loss has been extremely difficult, noting that the grief almost drove him away from the sport he loves.
“Most times I feel like quitting,” he said. “I feel like quitting because, yeah, you know, mom and dad, but my mom is so dear to me.
“Really, it’s so painful, man. It’s really so painful to be talking about my mom today.”
Nwabali’s comments highlight the emotional challenges he has faced off the pitch while continuing his professional football career.
