Nollywood actress Osas Ighodaro has shared her reaction after learning that actor Uzor Arukwe would be her co-lead in the upcoming film Colours of Fire.
In a recent interview, the 35-year-old actress explained how she joined the project and why the role initially gave her pause.
According to Ighodaro, the opportunity came directly from acclaimed filmmaker Niyi Akinmolayan, whom she had long hoped to work with.
“I’ve always wanted to work with Director Niyi. Even before he reached out, I noticed he liked one of my pictures and thought, ‘Wait, this is one of the directors I really want to collaborate with.’ So when he sent me a DM asking for my number to discuss a project, I was like, ‘Praise the Lord! Finally!’” she said.
She revealed that while the project excited her, the script initially made her hesitant.
“When he shared the script and the premise, I had my reservations at first. I was like, ‘Ah… are we really going to do all of this?’ But then I realized this is exactly the kind of work I pray for—the kind that excites you as an actor. I told myself to let go and just serve the character without judgment,” she explained.
Ighodaro also spoke highly of working alongside Uzor Arukwe, describing their reunion as seamless and reassuring.
“Working with Uzor Arukwe was amazing. Everybody loves Uzor, and I’ve worked with him a few times before. Reuniting on this project was incredible. He’s professional, talented, and easy to work with.
Those kinds of scenes aren’t for everyone, and I wouldn’t do them with just anybody. When Director Niyi told me Uzor was playing the role, I knew immediately—let’s do it,” she said.
Colours of Fire is directed by Niyi Akinmolayan and co-produced by FilmOne Studios and Anthill Studios. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Femi Branch, Mercy Aigbe, Gabriel Afolayan and Ibrahim Chatta.
Blending drama, romance and cultural storytelling, the movie is scheduled for nationwide cinema release on December 24.
