Rapper and media mogul 50 Cent appears to have softened his stance amid a brief online back-and-forth involving boxing champion Claressa Shields.
The exchange followed days of social media jabs connected to 50 Cent’s ongoing tension with rapper Papoose, who is currently in a relationship with Shields. During the exchanges, 50 Cent made remarks that drew attention to Shields’ personal life, prompting reactions online.
However, the G-Unit founder later adopted a more conciliatory tone, publicly praising Shields and supporting her boxing career. In a post shared on Instagram, he wrote:
“Ok the truth is I’m a Claressa Shields fan. I think she is an amazing fighter and she got a big fight coming up, so I’m gonna chill and let her focus. Let’s go champ!”
The statement marked a noticeable shift from the earlier tension. Shields had previously responded to the situation with humour and confidence, reminding fans of her past positive relationship with 50 Cent, including moments when he introduced her on stage and publicly supported her achievements.
She also addressed the broader issue on X, taking a swipe at rappers weighing in on boxing matters, writing:
“These rappers don’t get they a** beat enough that’s the problem.”
With 50 Cent now appearing to de-escalate the situation, the episode seems to have reached a pause whether the truce will hold remains to be seen, particularly given the rapper’s history of public feuds and ongoing rivalries.
