Nicki Minaj sparked reactions in Washington on Wednesday, January 28, after publicly reaffirming her support for President Donald Trump during an appearance at the U.S. Treasury Department.
The rap star described herself as one of Trump’s strongest supporters, saying criticism and backlash have only reinforced her stance.
“I am probably the president’s number one fan, and that’s not going to change,” Minaj said. “The hate or what people have to say does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more.”
Her comments come amid ongoing criticism, including petitions reportedly signed by more than 150,000 people calling for her deportation, linked to a past admission that she entered the United States illegally from Trinidad.
The appearance drew attention for its highly publicised moments, including Nicki Minaj and Trump holding hands on stage and sharing a cheek kiss. Trump also joked about Minaj’s gold-painted nails, praising her loyalty.
“I am going to let my nails grow, because I love those nails,” Trump said. “She’s been MAGA, what can I say? She’s been with us all the way.”
The event coincided with Nicki Minaj pledging substantial funding toward newly launched child investment accounts connected to Trump-backed initiatives.
While Nicki Minaj has largely avoided formal political endorsements in the past, the appearance marked her clearest alignment yet with Trump, coming just weeks after she expressed “utmost respect and admiration” for him during a surprise appearance at AmericaFest.
