Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has sparked online conversations after sharing a blunt opinion about financial expectations in relationships.
Taking to his Instagram page, the movie star stated that a relationship should not feel transactional, warning against situations where a man is constantly expected to spend money whenever he sees his partner.
“If it costs you money every time you see her, that’s prostitution not a relationship,” he wrote.
His statement quickly drew mixed reactions across social media, with many users agreeing that constant financial demands in a relationship can be a red flag, regardless of gender.
Others, however, argued that relationships naturally involve financial responsibility and support, especially in certain cultural or personal dynamics.
The comment adds to ongoing discussions about modern relationships, where expectations around money, roles, and contributions continue to evolve.
For some, Jim Iyke’s view highlights the importance of balance and mutual effort, while for others, it oversimplifies the realities of partnership and shared responsibilities.
