“How Can You Already Own a Car?” — Jemima Osunde Reacts After Social Media User Questions Her Wealth

Nollywood actress Jemima Osunde has responded with visible confusion after a social media user questioned how she could afford to own a car, sparking fresh conversations about the assumptions celebrities face online.

The exchange began after the actress shared a set of selfie photos on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption:

“To the people that can see me now, hi!”

While many fans admired the photos, one user shifted the conversation by questioning the actress’s finances.

The user, identified as John Bethel, wrote:

“How much are you making that you already own a car?”

Rather than engage in a lengthy debate, Jemima responded with a meme of herself wearing a confused expression, seemingly asking the user to clarify what he meant by the remark.

However, the exchange did not end there.

The user returned with another comment, suggesting that the actress’s known projects could not explain her financial status.

He wrote:

“When last have you featured in a movie or how much is your podcast paying you that you already own a car? Y’all know what you’re doing.”

Jemima did not respond further to the follow-up comment.

The interaction has since generated reactions on social media, with many users defending the actress and criticising the assumption that entertainers must constantly explain how they earn or spend their money.

Others pointed out that actors often have multiple income streams beyond film appearances, including brand endorsements, business ventures, hosting gigs, investments, podcasting and other commercial partnerships that may not always be visible to the public.

The exchange also highlights a recurring trend on social media, where public figures are frequently subjected to speculation about their finances whenever they display signs of success or luxury.

While Jemima Osunde chose to respond with humour rather than confrontation, her reaction quickly became part of the conversation, with many interpreting it as the perfect response to what they considered an intrusive question.
