Meta has unveiled Muse Image, its first image generation model from Meta Superintelligence Labs. The launch expands its generative artificial intelligence tools across WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook.
The new model enables users to generate, edit and share high-quality images using simple conversational prompts directly within Meta’s apps.
AI-powered creative assistant
Announcing the rollout on Tuesday, Meta described Muse Image as an AI creative partner that works alongside its Muse Spark assistant model, helping users plan, research and generate visuals from text descriptions.
The company said:
“Muse Image acts as the creative partner that knows your world, making it easy to turn your ideas into high-quality visuals that you can download and share anywhere, including directly to your feed, story, or chat.”
Generate and edit images with simple prompts
According to Meta, users can create or edit images by describing what they want in natural language.
The model supports tasks such as:
- Creating entirely new images from text prompts.
- Placing a pet inside a famous painting.
- Removing photobombers from photos.
- Generating functional QR codes.
- Making detailed infographics with clean, readable text.
- Designing custom illustrations and visual guides.
Meta explained:
“Whether you’re beginning from scratch or working with an existing photo, you can describe what you want in simple, conversational language, and Meta AI handles the rest through Muse Image.”
Smarter image editing
Muse Image also adds a more interactive editing experience.
Users can tap a markup icon to circle, sketch or annotate areas they want changed, allowing the AI to understand exactly which parts of an image should be modified.
Meta said the model keeps the entire context of each chat, letting users to persist in refining images, change styles or add additional elements without starting over.
Shopping integration
Meta is also integrating shopping features into the new AI model. Users can upload a photo of a room and ask Meta AI to redesign it using real products sourced from the web or Facebook Marketplace.
The system can either follow a specific design style requested by the user or recommend items based on current interior design trends.
New Instagram and WhatsApp features
The rollout also brings several new AI-powered tools across Meta’s platforms.
Among the new features are: More than 30 AI-powered effects for Instagram Stories.
- Image generation directly inside Meta AI chats on WhatsApp.
- The ability to download and instantly share AI-generated images across feeds, stories and chats.
Meta noted that image generation in WhatsApp is initially launching in a limited number of countries, with wider availability planned in the coming weeks.
Muse Video already in development
The company also confirmed that Muse Video is already under development, marking the next stage of its AI creative platform.
Meta described Muse Image as the first step in a wider strategy to provide users with increasingly advanced AI-powered creative tools, helping them transform ideas into visual content with minimal effort.
