“I’m a Local Boy” – Wizkid Reveals He Spent Up to $400 Daily on Nigerian Food While Living in the US.

Wizkid Announces “G.O.A.T Experience” Concert in Lagos This December

Despite his global fame and luxury lifestyle, Wizkid says one thing has never changed—his love for Nigerian food.

Speaking in a recent interview, the Grammy-winning Afrobeats star revealed that living in the United States for two years was difficult because he struggled to find the local dishes he enjoys.

According to Wizkid, his cravings became so intense that he spent between $300 and $400 every day to get Nigerian meals.

“I only eat Nigerian food everywhere I go. I got bored staying in the USA for 2 years because I wasn’t getting Nigerian food as much as I wanted.”

The singer said he never adjusted to foreign cuisine, insisting that no matter where he travels, Nigerian food remains his first choice.

“I used to spend $300 to $400 every single day for 2 years in the US just to have a taste of Nigerian food. I’m a local boy o. Forget all this Louis Vuitton Gucci stuff. I love what I love, you know.”

Wizkid added that, despite his international success and designer fashion, he has stayed connected to his roots.

“You can take the boy out of the ghetto but you cannot take the ghetto out of the boy.”

His comments have resonated with many fans, especially Nigerians abroad who often miss home-cooked meals while living overseas.

Over the years, Wizkid has become one of Africa’s biggest music exports, performing on some of the world’s largest stages and collaborating with international stars. Yet, his latest revelation suggests that, for him, no amount of fame or luxury can replace the comfort of Nigerian food.

The interview has since sparked reactions online, with many fans joking that while Wizkid may live a global lifestyle, his taste buds remain proudly Nigerian.
