Minimum Wage: Half ‘agbado’ better than none – Shehu Sani on NLC strike

In response to the suspension of the nationwide strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress, former lawmaker Senator Shehu Sani expressed that it will allow for ongoing negotiations to take place.

“The suspension of the strike to make room for continued negotiations is ok. Half agbado is better than none,” the former lawmaker wrote on X.

The Labour Union decided to suspend the strike in order to have uninterrupted discussions with the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage.

This decision came after a meeting with Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume and other government officials.

During the meeting, the SGF emphasized President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to a new minimum wage that is higher than N60,000.
