According to the New York Post, the gunman who tried to assassinate former President Donald Trump has been identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

Crooks fired a bullet at Trump during an outdoor rally in Butler, outside Pittsburgh, grazing the former President’s ear.

Sources say Crooks was positioned on a roof of a manufacturing plant 130 yards away from the stage at the Butler Farm Show grounds.

Secret Service snipers shot and killed Crooks, recovering an AR-style rifle from him.

Bethel Park, where the incident occurred, is located 40 miles south of the rally location.

The reason for Crooks’ attempted assassination of Trump remains unknown.
