Napoli have taken away Victor Osimhen’s no.9 shirt following his unsuccessful transfer to Chelsea.
The shirt will now be donned by Romelu Lukaku for the upcoming season.
Lukaku was brought in by the Italian club as a replacement for Osimhen, who was expected to head to Stamford Bridge.
But with Osimhen’s future uncertain, Napoli has chosen to sideline the player.
Additionally, Osimhen has been excluded from Napoli’s official Serie A squad.
Football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, wrote on X: “Victor Osimhen has been excluded by Napoli’s Serie A squad list… and also number 9 will NO longer be on his shirt.
Napoli have decided to give number 9 to Romelu Lukaku with immediate effect.”
