Tottenham Hotspur defeated West Ham 4-1 thanks to a dominant second-half performance, putting pressure on Hammers manager Julen Lopetegui.
Three of Spurs’ Premier League goals came in a seven-minute span early in the second half at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
West Ham had started brilliantly, gaining the lead and silencing the home supporters in the opening half.
However, Dejan Kulusevski’s equalizer in the 36th minute swung the momentum in Tottenham’s favor.
Despite the late pressure, West Ham held on to a 1-1 scoreline going into halftime.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou made a bold halftime decision, substituting the usually influential James Maddison.
The move paid off as Spurs came out firing, with an own goal by Alphonse Areola followed by strikes from Son Heung-Min and Yves Bissouma within the first 15 minutes of the second half.
The match spiraled further out of West Ham’s control when Mohamed Kudus was sent off following a VAR review for clashing with Tottenham’s Mickey Van de Ven, leaving the visitors with ten men.
