Former President Muhammadu Buhari expressed his concerns about the current hardships faced in Nigeria. He shared that he now depends on the rent from one of his two houses to support himself.
Speaking to the All Progressives Congress, APC, Caucus at the Katsina State Government House, the former president emphasized that he did not engage in corrupt practices to enrich himself during his eight years in office.
Buhari clarified that he only owns three properties in Daura, Katsina State, and Kaduna State, and emphasized that he cannot be accused of amassing wealth illegally while serving as president. He urged leaders to prioritize transparency and accountability while in power.
The former president acknowledged that many Nigerians may not fully understand the challenges that come with governing the country and tend to blame their leaders for issues that arise during and after their terms in office.
“After my eight years as a civil president, I have only three houses; one in Daura and two in Kaduna. I have given one out for renting where I get money for feeding,” Buhari said.
