Reality TV star and socialite Innocentia “Inno” Morolong has been convicted of crimen injuria and defamation against her former friend, actress and influencer Tebogo Thobejane.
The Randburg Magistrate’s Court delivered the verdict today, marking the conclusion of a highly publicized feud between the two.
The legal battle stemmed from a heated fallout between the former friends in 2023, when Morolong took to Instagram Live with allegations against Thobejane, accusing her of being a scammer, a sex worker, a pimp, and of using muthi.
The explosive claims triggered a defamation case ending in Morolong’s sentencing.
Thobejane, relieved by the court’s ruling, emphasized the significance of this case in addressing cyberbullying and defamation.
“As part of her sentencing, she is prohibited from consuming alcohol or drugs for one year. Should she be convicted again or if any charges are pressed against her for a similar offence, she will face immediate imprisonment.”
Morolong’s movement is further restricted as she is banned from entering Johannesburg throughout the duration of her house arrest. Beyond the initial sentence, the court also imposed a five-year suspension sentence to warn against future misconduct.
Thobejane has hinted that this may not be the end of the legal road for Morolong, revealing that further investigations are underway regarding her connections and potential additional charges.
Additionally, she expressed her intent to pursue civil action to recover damages and fully reclaim her independence.
