Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi has declared that he will never coach in France again following his team’s 3-0 loss to Auxerre in a Ligue 1 match.
Auxerre’s Jubal scored twice and Gaetan Perrin also found the net in the shock defeat.
The loss now leaves Marseille trailing league leaders Paris Saint-Germain by 10 points.
Defender Derek Cornelius was sent off during the game, a decision that angered De Zerbi, who has criticized the officiating standards in the country.
Speaking to reporters after the game, the Italian said: “I’m Italian, and after OM I’m not going to coach in France again.
“There’s a problem in the French championship. If French people are happy with this level of decision-making, then good for them. But today it was scandalous.
“The referee was not in [the right state of mind to officiate] this match because of all the controversy surrounding him.”
