Actress Lizzy Anjorin has responded to the controversy surrounding gospel singer Tope Alabi’s decision not to perform at her surprise birthday celebration.
Fans had paid a large sum for Tope Alabi to make a surprise appearance, but she declined upon realizing the celebrant’s identity.
In a live video, Lizzy Anjorin clarified that she had no part in inviting Tope Alabi and questioned the decision to spend so much money on a celebrity appearance. She proposed using the funds for more meaningful causes, such as helping those struggling with hospital bills.
Despite the situation, Lizzy Anjorin expressed gratitude for her life and good health on her birthday. She wished Tope Alabi well and acknowledged that she did not require her performance.
“I am a Muslim and I didn’t expect my fans to invite a gospel singer to my birthday. They should have invited an Islamic singer who is my fan,” she said.
“I can never use my money to call Aunty Tope Alabi to sing for me. The best of her songs is in her album and I can easily play it in my house.
“The millions my fans sent to her could have been given to beggars on the street or people that need their hospital bills to be paid.”
“A pregnant woman d!ed recently because she couldn’t afford 500k for hospital bills. I don’t do copy copy like other people. I already warned my fans to stop wasting money.”
Despite the drama, Lizzy Anjorin expressed gratitude for life and good health on her birthday.
“I thank God I am alive and healthy for my birthday. I don’t know why she refused to come down from the car but the reason is best known to her. I hope my fans have learned their lessons from this. Aunty Tope, I love you but I don’t need you.”
