Nigerian govt declares Tuesday, Wednesday public holidays for Eid-il-Fitr

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, a public holiday in honour of this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo commended Nigerian workers for their diligence, resilience, and contributions to national development, stating, “There is dignity in labour, and the dedication of our workforce is the backbone of nation-building.”

He encouraged workers to embrace innovation, productivity, and excellence as part of their roles in strengthening governance and economic growth, while reaffirming the Tinubu administration’s commitment to security and the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Minister wished all Nigerians a peaceful and joyful celebration and emphasized the need for continued unity and peace to advance industrialisation and prosperity.
