Famous Afrobeat star, Davido, has joined thousands of internet users in advocating for the release of VeryDarkMan from custody. VeryDarkMan, a well-known social media critic, was detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday for reasons that have not been disclosed.
Prior to his arrest, VeryDarkMan had announced plans to visit a GTBank branch in Abuja to address an alleged issue with his mother’s account.
It remains unclear whether VeryDarkMan was detained inside the bank or elsewhere. His arrest has sparked a range of reactions online, with both regular users and celebrities calling for his release.
Davido, for example, took to X to demand the release of VeryDarkMan.
While acknowledging the public support for VeryDarkMan, Davido wrote; “Outside all the noise it’s good to see that the good one does actually impacts lives and people actually appreciate! The support I’m seeing for VDM everywhere is encouraging, makes one want to do more for the masses. FREE MY GUY.”
