Singer and actress Halle Bailey is seeking legal protection and full custody of her son, Halo, amid troubling allegations involving her ex-partner and influencer-turned-rapper DDG (Darryl Dwayne Granberry).
Rather than airing their conflict publicly, Bailey has opted to resolve the matter in court. According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the Back & Forth hitmaker is requesting sole physical and legal custody of their son, whom she welcomed in December 2023 with DDG.
Supervised Visitation & Travel Restrictions
The documents reveal Bailey is also requesting that DDG only be granted supervised visitation, overseen by a professional. Additionally, she’s asking the court to prohibit him from taking Halo outside Los Angeles County, citing concerns about potential child abduction.
This preventative measure stems from Bailey’s assertion that DDG has:
-
A history of abuse
-
Previously hidden Halo from her
-
Demonstrated a lack of cooperation as a parent
-
Made threats to take the child away from her
She has also petitioned for restrictions that would bar DDG from traveling with Halo, applying for a passport, or obtaining any key legal documents for the child without her written consent.
“I Cannot Allow This Abuse Any Longer”
In her statement to the court, Bailey shared the emotional toll the situation has taken on her:
“I’ve done everything possible to avoid going to court. I realize that there is no placating Darryl. I cannot allow this abuse any longer. I cannot keep living like this.”
“I never know when he is going to demand our son to be in his mother’s care and whether I will be subjected to his threats and abuse.”
Temporary Restraining Order in Effect
A temporary restraining order is currently in place, requiring DDG to remain at least 100 yards away from both Bailey and their son until further notice.
A court hearing regarding custody and visitation rights has been scheduled for June 4. Both parties are expected to present their cases.
As of now, DDG has not issued a public statement regarding the legal proceedings or the serious allegations made against him.
