“Okay 7 years in. It’s time to pack it up” – Tems Slams Public Obsession with Her Backside

Nigerian Grammy-winning singer Tems has issued a fiery response to ongoing public scrutiny of her body, especially the continuous conversations surrounding her backside.

Taking to Twitter (X), the Essence hitmaker expressed frustration over how, seven years into her career, people are still fixated on the size and shape of her derriere.

“Okay 7 years in. It’s time to pack it up,” Tems wrote.
“I never thought I’d need to say it, but you are all weird. ‘It’s small, it’s flat, it’s fat.’ DOG, IT’S MINE.”

“Move On from My Bum”

Tems emphasized that she has never hidden her body, but also never felt the need to prove anything to anyone. She criticized the intrusive demands of people telling her to “show” her body and flipped the narrative by questioning how they would feel if the same demand was made of them.

“’Show us your bumbum’? Lol so me too I will turn and say ‘See’? Nah, show ME yours first. See how that feels?”

She went on to say:

“It’s just a body. I will add and lose weight.
The more you don’t like my body, the better for me actually.
But it’s enough now. Move on from my bum.”

Fans React

Tems’ bold statement has sparked conversations online, with many fans applauding her for standing up for herself and promoting body autonomy in the face of relentless objectification.
