Reality TV star and entrepreneur Uriel Oputa has taken a stand against age-shaming, calling out Nigerian men who mock women for growing older.
In a candid video shared on her Instagram page, the former Big Brother Naija housemate questioned why ageing is used as an insult, stressing that living to see old age is a blessing, not a curse.
“Why is it an insult to tell a woman that she’s getting old? Am I supposed to die young? I want to get old. I want to live to see my grandkids. Ageing is a privilege,” Uriel stated firmly.
The fitness enthusiast and chef expressed her frustration at societal expectations that try to tie a woman’s worth to her youthfulness, emphasizing that every year added to her life is a gift.
Uriel’s video has since sparked positive reactions online, with many fans applauding her confidence and her refusal to succumb to societal pressure.
