FIFA has concluded that its investigation into the alleged racism incident between Real Madrid’s Antonio Rudiger and Pachuca’s Gustavo Cabral remains inconclusive due to the absence of clear evidence.
According to Marca (via Madrid Universal), the global football body reviewed the referee’s report following Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Pachuca in the Club World Cup, but stated that the situation was “far from clear-cut.”
The incident reportedly occurred during stoppage time, but there was no video or audio evidence to substantiate whether a racist insult was directed at Rudiger.
This lack of corroborating material has made it difficult for FIFA to make a definitive judgment.
In response to the allegations, Gustavo Cabral insisted after the match that he called Rudiger “chickens” during the heated exchange, denying any racial abuse toward the German defender.
While the investigation has not reached a conclusive verdict, FIFA’s handling of the case underscores the complexities of addressing racism in football where objective proof is often elusive.
