Frank Leboeuf Slams Lionel Messi Over Negative PSG Comments

Former Chelsea and France defender Frank Leboeuf has criticized Lionel Messi for his recent remarks, in which he described his time at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) as difficult and unfulfilling.

Speaking on ESPN’s YouTube channel, Leboeuf said he was disappointed by Messi’s comments and questioned how the Argentine legend could say he didn’t enjoy his stay in one of the world’s most admired cities.

“I didn’t like what he said when he said he didn’t have a good time in Paris,” Leboeuf said.
“The only guy who doesn’t like Paris — it’s a beautiful city. I didn’t understand him.”

Leboeuf acknowledged the excitement surrounding Messi’s arrival in 2021 but added that the football icon didn’t live up to expectations at the Ligue 1 club.

“I think people were happy to have Messi. But it wasn’t the Messi they were expecting. If he was as good as he was at Barcelona, he’d have stayed there.”

Messi scored 32 goals and provided 35 assists in 75 appearances for PSG, winning two Ligue 1 titles and one Trophée des Champions before departing for Inter Miami in 2023.
