The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially announced that its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting will be held on July 24, 2025, at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
The date was confirmed by Festus Fuanter, the APC Deputy National Secretary, following a meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) held on Monday.
According to Fuanter, the NEC meeting will focus on critical internal party matters — most notably the discussion and possible ratification of a date for the party’s elective national convention, where a new National Chairman and other party leaders are expected to be elected.
“As you are all aware, the National Executive Committee is the apex body of the party,” Fuanter said. “Whatever it is that we do now, including the endorsement of the National Chairman, must also receive the blessings of the NEC.”
He further explained that while the NWC can recommend or endorse candidates for leadership roles, final decisions rest with the NEC and the national convention.
“If, during the meeting, the NEC members desire that a new Chairman is nominated, we’ll also accept such a nomination. But the final decision will be made at the Convention.”
This development comes amid leadership uncertainties following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje, the former APC National Chairman. His departure has fueled intense political speculation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
All eyes will now be on the upcoming NEC meeting as the APC moves to restructure its top leadership and chart a strategic course ahead of future electoral battles.
