Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, melted hearts online after he surprised his twin brother Paul Okoye’s children, Nathan and Nadia, during their 8th birthday celebration with their mother Anita Okoye on a Disney cruise in the Bahamas.
In a heartwarming video shared on Instagram, the birthday twins and their older brother, Andre, were seen running towards Peter with excitement, yelling “Uncle Papa!” as they embraced him warmly.
Peter didn’t arrive empty-handed. He brought thoughtful gifts, including bicycles and cash, adding more joy to the already magical day.
Peter’s wife, Lola Omotayo-Okoye, also took to Instagram to celebrate the twins, writing:
“My dearest Nathan & Nadia, here is wishing you both a day filled with double the fun, double the laughter, and double the cake! You’re growing up so fast and becoming more awesome every year… May the good Lord continue to bless and protect you. Happy 8th Birthday!”
Fans Applaud Peter’s Gesture
The video sparked a wave of admiration from fans, with many praising Peter’s consistent love and presence in his nieces’ and nephews’ lives despite his rocky relationship with Paul.
“Peter is the good twin, no doubt,” one fan wrote.
“He always tries to show up for Paul’s kids despite their differences.”
Another added, “Nothing concern the children with papa & uncle beef ✋ Happy blessed birthday umuoma.”
Anita Okoye Celebrates Twins
Anita Okoye, who shares custody of the twins following her 2022 divorce from Paul, also shared a heartfelt birthday message:
“Golden Year Magic for my Golden Twins! Nathan and Nadia are 8. Thankful. Blessed. Grateful.”
Anita and Paul Okoye, who married in 2014, welcomed Nathan and Nadia in 2017. Their marriage ended in 2022 after she filed for divorce citing infidelity and irreconcilable differences. The court granted her custody of the children along with a $20,000 monthly settlement.
Psquare’s Family Bond Still Alive?
Despite the longstanding rift between Peter and Paul, fans see Peter’s birthday visit as a symbol of maturity and proof that family love can still shine through strained relationships.
Peter and Paul formed the iconic duo Psquare, dominating the Nigerian and African music scene in the 2000s before splitting in 2017. Though they briefly reunited in 2021, tension remains between the brothers.
