British rapper Stormzy had an unexpected brush with danger on the final day of Wimbledon, but was swiftly rescued by none other than Dame Helen Mirren.
According to the Daily Mail, the incident occurred in the Evian VIP suite, where Stormzy was enjoying the men’s grand slam final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, alongside Mirren and Australian actor Chris Hemsworth.
As a rogue wasp flew toward the musician, Mirren—dressed in a green floral outfit with gold hoop earrings—jumped in front of it, shielding Stormzy from a potential sting. Her quick reaction earned praise from onlookers and left the rapper visibly grateful.
Later, the pair were seen seated side-by-side in the stands, watching Sinner claim his first Wimbledon title after a four-set victory over Alcaraz.
The rapper, whose real name is Michael Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr, is a British-Ghanaian rapper, singer, and songwriter, recently honoured with an honorary doctorate in law from Cambridge University.
Reflecting on his philanthropic work, he wrote: “Through the Stormzy Scholarship we have fully funded 55 black students’ education at Cambridge. And it is by far one of my proudest achievements.”
