Shaka iLembe actress Nomzamo Mbatha found herself at the center of online drama this week after an old photo of her in Constantia, Western Cape resurfaced—causing widespread speculation and unfounded rumors.
The Viral Post That Sparked the Controversy
The issue began when X (formerly Twitter) user @sanelenkosiii posted images of Deputy President Paul Mashatile’s luxurious R28.9 million mansion in Constantia, alongside an old Instagram photo of Nomzamo in the same area.
The caption suggested the mansion had been used to host Mashatile’s alleged “side girlfriends,” prompting some users to question if Nomzamo had been one of them.
“Deputy President Paul Mashatile has officially declared ownership of a R28.9 million mansion in the exclusive Constantia suburb of Cape Town, which he used to give access to his side girlfriends for vacations,” the post claimed.
Nomzamo Mbatha Responds With Receipts
Wasting no time, Nomzamo calmly shut down the allegations, clarifying that her visit to Constantia had no link to the Deputy President or his mansion. She commented under the post:
“Ok, I would like to credit and acknowledge @Airbnb. 😭 Shuthi, sorry.”
To further prove her point, she shared Airbnb booking receipts showing she had stayed at the Constantia Lodge between December 2020 and January 2021—clearly indicating she had booked her stay independently.
Social Media Support
Many fans and social media users rallied behind her, praising her grace under pressure and the foresight to keep documentation:
-
“Sana, poor Nomzamo Mbatha had to scroll down and search for receipts from 2020. Imagine if ebengenazo umntanabantu,” one user commented.
-
Another added: “Smart girl. In life, one must always keep a receipt.”
More Drama: Hairstyle Accusations
As if that wasn’t enough, earlier in the same week, singer Simphiwe Dana accused Nomzamo of copying her unique hairstyle, which further fueled an already busy news cycle for the star.
Despite the chaos, Nomzamo has remained professional and composed, with many fans applauding her for maintaining dignity and transparency.
