Rapper Lil Nas X has been arrested in Los Angeles following an early morning altercation with police, multiple outlets report.
The two-time Grammy winner, born Montero Lamar Hill, was reportedly seen walking in his underwear along Ventura Boulevard in the San Fernando Valley in the early hours of Thursday. According to officials who spoke with NBC, he was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor battery after clashing with responding officers.
In video footage published by TMZ, the 25-year-old rapper is heard telling bystanders that he was on his way to a party. When officers confronted him, police allege that he threw punches before being restrained.
The LAPD, without naming him directly, confirmed that the suspect was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of a possible overdose. Authorities said he will be formally charged once released. No officers were injured during the incident.
Lil Nas X shot to global fame in 2019 with Old Town Road, his record-breaking collaboration with Billy Ray Cyrus. He has since scored further hits with Industry Baby and Montero (Call Me by Your Name).
This latest development follows recent health concerns for Lil Nas X — in April 2024, he revealed via Instagram that he had been hospitalized after experiencing sudden facial paralysis, saying at the time that he had “lost control of half [his] face.”
