Nollywood actress and trained engineer Etinosa Idemudia has stirred mixed reactions after declaring that acting is far more demanding than engineering.
Speaking in a recent interview, the actress — who worked as an engineer before joining the entertainment industry — explained that her experience in both fields gave her firsthand insight into their unique challenges.
According to Etinosa Idemudia, acting demands deep emotional investment, long hours, and the ability to constantly switch between roles and settings, which can be mentally and physically exhausting.
Etinosa Idemudia said that unlike engineering, which follows a more structured and predictable pattern, acting is filled with uncertainty and creative pressure to stay convincing on screen.
In her words:
“I’ve been an engineer and I’ve been an actor and I can, I dare say, no offense to my colleagues in the engineering world, but I dare say that being an actor is much more tasking. It’s a crazy kind of work. It’s a mad people work. Don’t let those people that close by 5 p.m. to come and be insulting us.”
Before achieving fame in Nollywood, Etinosa earned a degree in Computer Engineering from Covenant University. After graduation, she worked briefly as an engineer before deciding to pursue her passion for acting and filmmaking.
