David Geffen’s estranged husband, Donovan Michaels, has officially dropped a civil lawsuit that accused the billionaire media mogul of abuse and sought lifelong financial support.
The move marks a major development in the ongoing legal battle between the pair, who are currently locked in divorce proceedings following their 2023 marriage — a union reportedly entered into without a prenuptial agreement.
Michaels, a former exotic dancer, had filed the civil suit in July, shortly after David Geffen initiated divorce proceedings. In it, he demanded “financial support commensurate with his lifestyle for the rest of his life” and made explosive allegations against the 82-year-old founder of Asylum Records and Geffen Records.
The lawsuit claimed that Geffen began paying Michaels for sex after they met on a website in 2016 and that Michaels was later treated as a “sexual commodity.” It further alleged that Geffen promised to provide him with lifetime financial support, a promise Michaels said influenced his decision to abandon his modelling career to become a full-time husband.
Geffen vehemently denied the accusations, describing them as “petty gossip and salacious lies.”
With the civil case now withdrawn, both parties are set to focus exclusively on the divorce proceedings, which centre on temporary spousal support and the potential division of Geffen’s vast assets.
No further details have been disclosed about whether a private settlement was reached before the case was dropped.
