Nollywood actress Biola Adebayo has reacted to a resurfaced allegation by beauty entrepreneur Ademola Adeyemi, popularly known as Diiadem, who recently recounted being mistreated by the actress on a movie set nearly 16 years ago.
During a new interview with Olalekan Fabilola, Biola responded to claims that she asked the then-teenage Diiadem to clean her shoes in a demeaning manner. The actress expressed surprise at the allegation, insisting that while she may have made such a request in the past, it would never have been delivered rudely.
“I thought it was a joke. Later, I thought 16 years ago, she would probably be around 15/16/17 and I would probably be in my late 20s. I can ask you to help me clean my shoes then. It’s not a bad thing. She took it the wrong way and said it traumatized her,” she said.
“Even if I asked you to help me clean shoes, there’s no way I would have said it rudely. I can never say that. It’s not a crime. If you are older than me, you can send me on an errand,” she added.
The controversy resurfaced last month when Diiadem publicly accused Biola of being “super nasty” to her during a movie shoot in 2009/2010, stressing that her pain stemmed not from the task itself but from “how you talk to people.”
“It’s not even about cleaning someone’s shoes, it’s about how you talk to people. It costs nothing to treat people with kindness,” Diiadem had said.
She explained that the memory resurfaced after watching Biola’s recent content about being unable to afford colleagues’ expensive aso ebi. According to her, Biola even laughed when she mentioned the incident online.
Diiadem emphasized that she was not seeking attention but calling for accountability and kinder treatment in the industry.
