Former Arsenal and Barcelona striker Thierry Henry has revealed that he too experienced disagreements with legendary managers Arsène Wenger and Pep Guardiola during his career.
Henry made the remark while reacting to Mohamed Salah’s explosive interview, in which the Liverpool forward accused the club and manager Arne Slot of “throwing him under the bus.”
Speaking on CBS Sports, Henry acknowledged that clashes with coaches are normal but insisted such matters should never be made public.
“I had problems with Wenger, with Guardiola… Have you ever heard me talk about it publicly? Never. I protected the club,”Thierry Henry said.
He emphasised that loyalty and professionalism require players to safeguard their club’s image, even in turbulent moments.
“When you play for a club, you must protect it at all costs,” he said.
“No matter what’s happening internally, you protect the club — your teammates, the manager, the staff.”
Thierry Henry added that emotions such as anger or frustration are part of football, but public criticism only worsens difficult situations.
