Lizzo has joined the ongoing conversation surrounding Nicki Minaj, MAGA politics, and recent controversies linked to Turning Point USA’s Erika Kirk, offering a broader perspective on what she sees as a growing trend in celebrity culture.
Speaking candidly, the Grammy-winning singer said she initially learned about the situation through messages from others before researching it herself. While she stopped short of directly criticising Minaj, Lizzo stressed that celebrities’ opinions about one another are largely irrelevant.
“Celebrities’ opinions of other celebrities do not matter,” she said, adding that her personal views on Minaj were beside the point.
Instead, Lizzo warned fans to brace for what she described as an influx of public figures aligning with certain political movements for personal gain. According to her, more celebrities are choosing paths they believe are “more profitable and more beneficial,” and she expects this trend to continue.
Placing the issue within the current political climate, Lizzo noted that with several years still ahead, more surprising and disappointing shifts are likely to emerge.
She concluded by emphasising that such moves are rarely accidental, stating that money, privilege, and incentives often drive the political choices celebrities make.
