A Change.org petition calling for rapper Nicki Minaj to be deported from the United States has gained traction following her recent appearance at a Turning Point USA event hosted by conservative activist Erika Kirk.
The petition, titled “Deport Nicki Minaj to Trinidad,” crossed 70,000 signatures shortly before the New Year, reflecting growing backlash from critics unhappy with the artiste’s perceived political alignment. On social media, some detractors have mockingly referred to her as “Nicki MAGAJ,” accusing her of leaning toward far-right politics.
The campaign was reportedly initiated by an individual using the pseudonym “Pedonika Minaj.” The petition references controversies surrounding Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, including his past legal issues, and criticises the rapper for publicly defending him. It also revisits allegations that Nicki Minaj harassed Petty’s accusers, claims she has previously denied.
The petition further cites Minaj’s public fallout with Jay-Z and Roc Nation earlier this year, which critics argue adds to concerns about her recent conduct.
Despite the attention, the petition has no legal standing, and there is no indication that U.S. authorities or officials in Trinidad and Tobago are considering any action. Nicki Minaj has not publicly responded to the petition as of the time of filing, while efforts by media outlets to obtain comments from relevant authorities are reportedly ongoing.
