Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has said his administration ended the year 2025 on a sorrowful note following the death of his deputy, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
CREEBHILLS recalls that Ewhrudjakpo slumped on December 12 while working in his office and was rushed to a hospital in Yenagoa, where he was later pronounced dead.
Speaking on Saturday at the Lord’s Chosen Church Convention in Imgbidi, Governor Diri described the incident as a painful experience that disrupted his plans and programmes.
“From when I assumed office as governor of Bayelsa State, I have never missed this convention. But 2025 became a different year,” Diri said.
“I lost my second in command, the deputy governor of my state, and so we ended the year on a very sad note. I am happy again to be here with you.”
The governor also used the occasion to advise politicians to embrace humility and service to the people.
“I call on politicians; it is not by our power, it is not by our might. You are elected to serve the people, and if you serve the people well, they will stand by you,” he added.
