Nightlife personality Yhemolee has reacted to the ongoing online feud between Wizkid and Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti, blaming Seun for engaging the singer’s fan base and allowing the situation to spiral.
The dispute started after Seun criticised Wizkid’s fans, popularly known as Wizkid FC, for comparing the singer to his late father, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. Seun described such comparisons as disrespectful to Fela’s legacy and influence.
Wizkid later fired back on Tuesday with a series of heated social media posts directed at Seun, triggering widespread reactions online.
Amid the backlash, Yhemolee took to Snapchat to share his thoughts, faulting Seun for confronting Wizkid’s fan base and provoking the singer.
“No be only you be Fela pikin!! Only you wan face FC? How? Wetin you chop?? Rage-baited Wiz till e burst out!! And everybody know sey the man mouth worst!” he wrote.
Yhemolee questioned why Seun was arguing with younger fans who had never experienced Fela’s era, noting the generational gap.
“Fela died 29 years ago!! Who dem born that same year go be almost 30 next year. But you are fighting teenagers and Gen Zs that know absolutely nothing about him. Make it make sense,” he added.
He suggested that Seun should have ignored the online provocation rather than engage fans whose understanding of Fela is largely second-hand.
The feud continues to divide social media users, with some supporting Seun’s insistence on protecting his father’s legacy, while others believe the clash could have been avoided.
Meanwhile, Seun’s sister, Motunrayo Kuti, also weighed in, criticising the frequent use of Fela’s name in online arguments and stressing that the late icon’s legacy deserves respect.
As of the time of reporting, neither Wizkid nor Seun Kuti has signalled any intention to de-escalate the public exchange.
