Fido Issues Public Apology Over Controversial Actions

Singer Josiah Olayemi Awosika, popularly known as Fido, has issued a heartfelt public apology following actions that drew criticism for being disrespectful toward his record label, management, and fellow artists, including Davido and his 30BG fanbase.

Taking to X, Fido acknowledged his missteps and reflected on the rapid rise to stardom that has shaped both his career and personal growth.

“There’s no easy way to write this, so I’ll just say it plainly. I messed up. Stardom came into my life quickly. One minute I was dreaming about it, the next minute I was living it. And while the world was watching me grow, I was still trying to understand who I was inside that growth,” he wrote.

Fido admitted that ego, excitement, and inexperience influenced some of his decisions, but emphasised that he is committed to growth and self-improvement.

“To my fans… I am sorry. To the global Afrobeats community, the legends and godfathers who opened these doors before me, my colleagues and everyone who felt disappointed by my words or actions, I apologise. Truly,” he said.

He highlighted the importance of humility and reflection, explaining that he has chosen to step back, listen, and learn from the experience.

“I am still learning. I am still evolving. But I promise you this, I have taken these lessons seriously. The man walking into this next chapter is more grounded, more aware, and more respectful of the platform he’s been given,” Fido added.

The singer also expressed gratitude toward those who held him accountable without cancelling him, noting that the music he is about to release will reflect a “deeper, more honest, and more grateful place.”

“This is growth. This is maturity. This is me doing better. It’s game time again,” he concluded.

The apology signals Fido’s commitment to personal and professional growth, reassuring fans and the Afrobeats community that he intends to move forward with humility and renewed focus on his craft.
