American musician D4vd has been identified as a target of a grand jury investigation in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
D4vd, born David Anthony Burke, came under scrutiny after the teenager’s remains were discovered in September 2025 inside his black Tesla Model X, which had been impounded in the Hollywood Hills area of Los Angeles.
No criminal charges have been filed against the singer at this time.
According to a report by the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has been presenting evidence to a grand jury at the Los Angeles Superior Court since November.
A petition seeking the attendance of an out-of-state witness reportedly stated that D4vd “may be involved in the death of 14-year-old victim Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who may have been a victim of foul play,” and referred to him as a “target” of the investigation.
In legal terms, being named a target of a grand jury investigation typically indicates that prosecutors believe there is substantial evidence potentially linking the individual to a crime, though it does not amount to a formal charge or conviction.
Prosecutors stated that the teenager’s decomposed remains were discovered around 10:30 a.m. on September 8, 2025, after a tow company manager contacted the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The vehicle had reportedly been flagged as abandoned on August 26.
Court documents indicate that D4vd was on tour at the time the vehicle was impounded.
In November, a police source told People magazine that the musician had not been cooperating with authorities since the start of the investigation.
Authorities have not announced any formal charges, and the investigation remains ongoing.
