Nollywood actor Kunle Remi has spoken openly about the growing economic pressure on Nigerians, pointing to rising fuel prices and constant power outages as major concerns.
In a video shared on Instagram, the actor said the situation is becoming difficult to ignore and criticised the idea that people should stay silent on national issues.
“We should be discussing. We should be talking about it. We should be trying to fix what is happening in the nation,” he said.
Kunle revealed that he recently bought petrol at over ₦1,300 per litre, describing the experience as frustrating, especially given Nigeria’s status as an oil-producing country.
“I don’t understand why Nigeria is one of the first countries to be affected by the war in Iran,” he said.
He also highlighted the daily challenges many Nigerians face, from lack of electricity to the rising cost of diesel and transportation.
“You don’t have light. Diesel is expensive. Fuel is expensive,” he said, adding that the combined effect is taking a toll on both individuals and businesses.
The actor shared that some of his staff are now struggling to come to work due to increased transport costs, which are eating into their salaries.
“A couple of my staff are telling me that to even come to work now is a problem,” he said.
Visibly concerned, Kunle admitted the situation is mentally draining.
“I’m blown away because I’m mentally stressed,” he added.
His comments have sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians relating to the realities he described and calling for more accountability and solutions to the country’s ongoing economic challenges.
